ShopQueer.co is an online LGBTQ+ bookstore and e-commerce startup headquartered in Los Angeles. We split our profits with queer authors, and we’re getting ready to launch a traveling bookmobile to fight anti-LGBTQ+ book bans across the country. We’re looking for some fellow lovers of queer books to help make it all happen!
We are currently only considering candidates for Sales Contractors. For all other positions, we will keep applicants' resumes on file and be in touch as our team continues to grow.
Position: Sales Contractor
Location: Los Angeles
Work schedule: As-needed
Rate: $20/hour
Primary Purpose
Sales Contractors are responsible for staffing sales events for ShopQueer and the Rainbow Book Bus.
Main Duties and Tasks
1. Transport products and materials to events.
2. Depending on the event, set up an aesthetically pleasing booth or organize the Bus according to our standards.
3. Assist customers, provide recommendations, and efficiently complete transactions.
4. Assist the ShopQueer staff as needed with special tasks at particular events, such as queue management at author signing events.
Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
1. Driver's License and access to a vehicle for transporting materials to and from events.
2. Retail experience, ability to attend to customers with a positive attitude and personalized experienced.
3. Familiarity with point of sale systems.
4. Flexible hours a plus, with a special consideration of candidates available on evenings and weekends.
5. A love of queer books!
